Arijit

Short biography

Ariit Karmakar received his Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation and Electronics from Jadavpur University, India, in 2013. He received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, in 2015. He's worked for 2 years as Senior System Engineer in Cypress Semiconductor. In 2017 he joined the Advise Group in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KU Leuven, as a research associate. He's currently working for the PhD degree on the subject 'Integrated time-based signal processing circuits for harsh radiation environments'. The goal of this project is to define new innovative radiation hardened sensor (resistive, capacitive, etc.), readout architectures and design electronic front-ends based on time-based, analogue signal processing. His research interests include analog and mixed-signal IC design for emerging applications, analog aspects of digital circuits, and energy harvesting circuit and systems.

Why did you apply for a RADSAGA position?

RADSAGA focuses on training professionals and bringing together industry, universities, laboratories and test facilities in order to innovate in the field of Radiation Hardened Electronics. With a background in analog design, I have hands-on research experience on soft error mitigation techniques as well as knowledge on radiation hardened circuits implementation. The project will provide immense opportunities to learn and know the issues and challenges in this field as well as working for their solutions.

What are your future goals? How will RADSAGA help you fulfill them?

I envisage myself as a future researcher in the field of radiation hardened electronics and I hope I'll join a research institute or university as faculty staff. My interests include Integrated Circuits and space electronics (Radiation Hardened/Self-correcting/Cryogenic electronics). RADSAGA with its innovative network and facilities will provide me with opportunities and training to excel in this field.
